About Gloria Wadzinski

Gloria at the computer

Gloria Wadzinski is a multimedia designer specializing in website design, graphic design and video production.

After living in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Kansas and Iowa, Gloria now calls Boulder, Colorado home. It’s a good fit. “You can’t stretch out both arms without hitting another artist, designer, writer, or student. I love being surrounded by schools and creative people.”

Gloria started her creative career in the 80s. After getting a B.S. degree in Technical Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, she worked at a newspaper using traditional layout and typesetting tools.

Then, Apple introduced the Macintosh and everything changed. Gloria taught herself how to use Pagemaker, Freehand, and Photoshop while working in offset printing production and later doing marketing at a public service agency. In the early 90s, Gloria went back to school to increase her digital design skills. As she took classes, Gloria worked at offset printing and screen printing companies. It was an exciting time as graphic departments struggled with whether to take this new technology seriously. Obviously, digital design took over and Gloria became a “desktop publisher.”

Then the internet became commercial, and everything changed again. Learning from books and the internet itself, Gloria created one of the first 20 websites hosted in Sioux City, Iowa. Many more websites followed, and Gloria began doing web design, graphic design, and marketing for tourism, art, and financial companies.

In the 2000s, photography and video went digital. Cell phones browsed the Internet. And websites featured Flash animations. It was time to go back to school to keep up with technology. Gloria enrolled in a Multimedia Graphic Design program at a local college and will graduate in Spring of 2010. With new web, animation, and video editing skills, she is looking for her next challenge.
